People and Organizations-Free-Samples for Students-Myassignment
Question: Write an Essay People and Organizations. Answer: Background The current study focuses upon the aspect of emotional intelligence and its importance in dealing with pressure situations and circumstances. The emotional intelligence combines both intelligence quotient and professional skills. In many situations it is the emotional intelligence which helps an individual response to a highly demanding situation. In many cases, it is the instantaneous response of an individual to his surroundings (Cabello et al., 2016). The impulses are guided much by evolutionary patterns and trends of brain development rather than social conditioning which play a minor role over here. Therefore, based upon the emotional intelligence quotient the responses triggered in each and every individual are different. Discussion of the results of the self assessment I have received high score for the emotional intelligence test undertaken by me. It left an overall nice impression upon me as the emotional intelligence is twice as important as the IQ and the professional skills combined. It is the potential possessed by individuals to manage their emotions and relationships. The EQ score can range from 90-100; where a perfect score measures 160. Since I have scored a high emotional intelligence, I can handle the stress and the pressure situations at work better. I believe it has helped me in understanding the traits and potentials possessed by others at my workplace. Self discovery from self assessment The scores from the self assessment helped me in understanding the gaps and the loopholes in my emotional intelligence quotient. Since, I received a mediocre score between 90-160 and not exactly 160, there is scope for improvement. Therefore, I need to focus more upon increasing my emotional intelligence score. This is increasing my emotional intelligence score would help me in reducing my negative emotions, stay cool and manage stress, be assertive an express difficult emotions when necessary, express intimate emotions well. However, for doing so I think I will need to focus upon my personal space more where I could take some time off the worldly pursuits and focus upon things and activities which could make me happy. For example , taking a break from work and focussing upon the trivial things of life can help me in detangling the pressure zones of mind and connect with the reality well. Theoretical concepts of emotional intelligence The emotional intelligence theory was proposed by Daniel Goleman and could be further divided into a number of sub theories such as self awareness, self regulation, social skill, empathy and motivation. The emotional intelligence covers all of these concepts in a nutshell. For example the self awareness parameter refers to be accepting of the potentials as well as the weaknesses possessed by an individual which can impact the overall behaviour or actions of an individual . The self regulations on the other hand refer to the restraint practised by an individual within a measured and limited environment. the social skill on the other hand refers to the interpersonal skills which could help me in communicating with the society better. Therefore, a high emotional intelligence would help me in interacting with individuals a t my workplace which is particularly important in gaining knowledge. An empathetic attitude would d help me in better understanding the mental dilemmas of others in my place of work. Therefore, possessing a high emotional intelligence would help me in removing the negative thoughts from the mind at a demanding and pressurizing moment, which could further help me in being self motivated. Insight from self assessment to improve professional practice Therefore, from the self assessment I have realized that I need to understand develop some of my interpersonal skills such as developing an empathetic attitude towards an individual, which will help me in communicating with each and everyone at my place of work. Additionally, adopting the self awareness skills better can also help in keeping oneself self motivated (Carson, Carson Birkenmeier, 2016). References Cabello, R., Sorrel, M.
